My Samsung DVD-V3500 DVD Player / VCR Combo is plugged in but will not power on what could be the problem?

When i plug it in it sounds like the fan is running but when i press the power button the remote and the combo nothing happens.

Usually this simptom is the result of mechanical failure on the VCR side. The unit is designed to keep you from powering on if the microprocessor senses anything wrong in the deck.

There is a slim chance that you have a blown fuse too.

You can take the cover off by removing the 4 screws on the sides and have a look inside. You will find the fuse near where the power cord connects. If you have young children, you might find a foreign object inside. Sometimes removing the object, unplugging and replugging the player, will make it work.
