Why many mobo manufacturers use USB instead of Firewire?
I want to build my first computer to edit and burn photos Foster and VHS and 8mm tapes. My problem, my ADS Pyro A / V Link (converts from analog to digital) I need firewire. The motherboard that I want to buy does not have firewire, it has USB 2.0. Is it advisable to purchase and install a PCI card for firewire capacity or if you select a different mobo that has firewire? Firewire is going to be eliminated so early? I ask this because it seems USB is more prevelent these days.
because they were working on making faster USB (2.0 to 3.0 and soon I'm sure) and it caught fire enough market become more of a norm. If you have a device like a video camera that uses FireWire you will need this port to communicate. In all case, a PCI card with firewire would always limited to the PCI bus speed.
