Night Security

Those in Security, (mall walker, LP, night security) what is a typical day like?

I am taking my Basic Security training soon and hope to get a job in security (obviously). I was just wondering what the day in the life of an officer is like, ie. How many violent people do you get involved with, how often you chase somebody down...etc.

Your day can vary, it all depends where you work at. If you are a security guard at an office building expect to sit at a desk and greet people. If you work in the housing prjects expect risky patrols, chasing people down routinely, makign arrests and even getting shot at. These are the extreme ends. In the middle are like mall security guards that do a lot of walking foot patrols and customer service. You occasionaly make an arrest or chase someone. You will routinely deal with violent people. If yopu work at a nioght club or bar, expect to always deal with violent people but probaly never chase someone down. If you are LP, you will always chase down people but not realy have to do patrols. You will have some violent shoplifters to deal with though.
