Monoxide Alarm

Is this situation dangerous? I just got a carbon monoxide alarm and it IMMEDIATELY went off and showed 294?
That was in the lounge - it tested 282 in my bedroom and the dining room, 298 in the kitchen and 293 in the lounge! Just wondered if this is dangerous and what I should do about it? I know for a fact he Council (Leeds City Council/Aire Valley Homes) would not be bothered!
The first thing I would question is if this the unit is working properly. At those high levels I'd think you would feel some symptoms.
Plug it in outside. If it still shows a similar CO2 level, it is probably malfunctioning. If it shows a normal level, you have a VERY dangerous situation inside your house. At 400ppm you would be dead within 5 minutes and you're 3/4 of the way there.
The source of CO2 gas is likely to be your heating system or hot water heater if it's gas. I would contact a heating professional immediately to check your heater and stay out of your house. Your chimney may be blocked and it is venting all its exhaust inside.
