What is BNC, RC, S-VIDEO AND DV outputs and difference and expansion of BNC and RC?

DV (FireWire IEEE) is a serial port for relaying a digital data stream at very fast rates (25 MBPS), generally 8 times faster than USB 2.0. Since digital camcorders record a digital data stream this is the most effective way of getting picture and sound out of the camera and into a computer.

S-Video is an analog system that is connected to a chip (circuit) that converts any digital signal from digital into three elements: Monochrome image, color signal, audio streams. It's only as good as the chips that do the conversion. From analog recorders it takes the composite recorded signal and splits it into monochrom image, color and sound stream, except on Betacam units with S-Video connectors which would then convert the Pr/Pb signal into a single composited color signal and send that along with the monochrom and sound.

RCA (yellow white and red plugs) send out a composited monchrome and color signal in the yellow and the sound in the red and white. From digital camcorders the video signal is convereted to composite analog and analog audio from the digital stream by chips.

RF connectors are used to get cable and antenna signals as a composited video (color and picture) and audio together as a single signal, at a resonance equal to a TV annenna signal. It is the lowest quality possible.

BNC are used on pro decks, some VCRs and some Betacams and send a composite signal similar to an RF signal but more like the RCA method. You can often see monochrome images with some distortion through the RF input if you connect the BNC there.

BNCs often carry picture and sound on separate connectors or can composite them.

DV is a perfect 10

Digital to S-Video is an 8

Analog to S-Video is a 7

RCA is a 5

BNC is a 3 or 4

RF is a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 for picture and color quality.
