Balance Weight

How much weight is on the right side to balance the 5 pund weight on the left side?

On the left side we have 5 pound and the distance from the center is 3"
And on the right side the distance from the center is 5" How many pounds we have to have in this side to balance?
Could you please explain to me how you get your answer.

Weight x distance on left = weight x distance on right.

So, 5 x 3 = weight x 5.

Weight = (5 x 3)/ 5 = 3 pounds.
